Images of food are everywhere. We cannot walk down any major shopping street without being barraged by them from the windows of all the food shops. We open a magazine and there they are again thrusting their mouth watering delights at us.

If you think that food picture taking is very hard and that you could never snap like the professionals you could surprise yourself. Like most types of other picture taking, a lot of the effects come from technique which can be learned.

Light as always with photography is King. Get it right and you create magic. Get it wrong and we all know the result! Treat the food you’re photographing as you would any other still life subject and ensure that it is well lit. Most of the bad examples of food photography you will come across would have been drastically improved with adequate lighting.

One of the best places to photograph food is by a window where there is plenty of natural light – perhaps supported with flash bounced off a ceiling or wall to give more harmonious lighting that cuts out the shadows. This daylight helps to keep the food looking much more natural.

Fix Your Marriage With Four Principles

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

In the United States, we are taught that at least according to our constitution, all men are created equal. It took over a over sixty years just to put an end to slavery. It took another fifty years before the concept included women. It took another sixty years before laws and court decisions enforced the concept that all men and women are created equal in the views of law. Yet , there are many examples of social bias, prejudice, discrimination, and injustice.

The cause of freedom and justice continues across America and the world. Perhaps that battle is even more obvious in our homes. The very nature of marriage and family life are threatened by the thirst for equality and domination. Political and social forces reach into every part of our lives. Some of this may be good, but some also disrupts the operational relationships of the family.

Think about your own marriage. Is there conflict over decision making, who is in charge, or feelings of neglect? Do the forces of oppression touch your home? Are there abuses? Or is your marriage and home untouched by these forces?

Acid Free Paper Is A Must For Wedding Gown Preservation

Thursday, November 26th, 2009

If you are looking to your own wedding gown preservation, then acid free paper is a requirement. You must stuff the bodice of the wedding gown, and any other garment that you are preserving with acid free tissue paper

There are different types of acid free paper on the market. The kind needed for preservations is soft and thin. It must have no buffering agents and contain no lignin. A pH of 7.0 means it’s acid free. You can also use it in between the pages of photographs, or wrap woolen or silk material because it is soft. It is the best thing to use for cushioning material. Damage to the item in handling and storage is eliminated.

An acid free preservation box is also a requirement for wedding dress preservations. You will need to line the bottom and sides of the box with tissue. You must also use the tissue to stuff the sleeves of the dress. Another item needed is an acid free bust form which you will line with the tissue. If you can’t find one, you can always use wadded up acid free paper to shape the bodice. After you have shaped it you will then carefully place the gown in the box front side down and hanging over the edges of the box.
