Outdoor Marriage Decoration Ideas

When thinking about getting wed, many people picture about an outdoors location for their marriage. And in fact getting married outside is not only a dream to many, but also a fantastic way to have that out if the ordinary wedding that most couples yearn for. And if you have a specific natural spot in mind where you would love to tie the knot, so much better.

Now the day for outdoor marriage may finally be approaching, but while starting to plan the event there are lots if questions that come to your mind, and many of them are related to the setting and decoration of the wedding venue. For instance, how to make the setting comfortable? How to manage light and noise during the wedding?

All the difficulties that seem to be inherent in an outdoor wedding celebration will actually turn out to be pretty easy to solve, if only you are willing to spend the time to plan everything accordingly and systematically. And ultimately a lot of effort will probably be solved, as in most cases the ceremony and the reception can be organized in the same place.

The actual decoration may be the least of your worries, since much less will be needed than when getting married in a building or place of worship. The outdoor setting itself, the view, the present plants and other features such as rocks or the sea, will probably provide the best of backdrops, and you will only need to add slightly to it.

One thing that you will need to take into consideration right away, even before the decoration of the outdoor marriage venue itself, is the lighting. Will you need artificial lighting, or will the sunlight suffice during the whole day? And if you plan for extra lighting, should you take electric lights or will you be better served by torches and candles?

If the marriage is going to take place during the day, you should avoid placing the ceremony area in a way that the wedding guests will end up looking directly into the light. Turning the main view of the ceremony at right angles to the direction of sunlight at the corresponding time is a good idea.

Do also consider if shading will be necessary, both for the guests and for any refreshments waiting nearby. The right shading, giving guests the choice whether to say in the sun or not, will make a huge difference.

Wind can be another pesky problem for outdoor weddings, especially in autumn. All tablecloths and other textile features should be tied down securely, and kept away from any open flames. For tables, you can use heavy items such as flower vases to avoid unsightly clamps. If it’s going to be very windy during the outdoor marriage, consider protecting your guests with a screen or with some big potted plants hired for the purpose.

It’s important to consider the impact of noise as well. Many splendid areas that suit themselves for outdoor marriage are not miles away from civilization, but next to a major road. If the spot of your dreams is like that, you will have to organize some sort of noise screen so that the guests can hear the ceremony and can ignore the engine noise.

Another very important thing is to think about guests whose ability to walk over uneven surfaces is limited. This applies to wheelchair-bound people of course, but also to the elderly, to overweight people and to the very young. Make sure than none of your guests will find it hard or impossible to reach the venue of your outdoor marriage.
